AuthorVampilov Aleksander
The works of Alexander Valentinovich Vampilov (1937–1972) are part of the gold fund of 20th-century Russian literature. Like no other playwright, he was able to speak about the problems of his generation, about the moral choice before which sooner or later each of us finds ourselves, about how the concepts of conscience and duty are distorted in everyday circumstances. He brought to the stage a new type of hero — thinking, reflective, acutely feeling the discord with himself and the surrounding world. A. Vampilov was allotted very little time by fate — he tragically died young and did not live to see the success awaiting his plays — "Farewell in June," "The Elder Son," "Duck Hunting," "Last Summer in Chulymsk," and others. For many years now, performances based on A. Vampilov's works have remained on stage.
