ILLEGAL USE OF NARCOTIC DRUGS, PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES, THEIR ANALOGUES CAUSES HEALTH DAMAGE, THEIR ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING IS PROHIBITED AND ENTAILS LIABILITY ESTABLISHED BY LEGISLATION. Purity Tyler is a newly graduated young woman bearing the heavy burden of a suffocating mother’s love and a $130,000 education debt. No help is expected from the family: the mother works part-time as a clerk in a local grocery store and lives as a recluse, and Pip never knew her father. She desperately tries to find out his identity, at least for practical reasons: perhaps her father can help pay off the student debt. It is then that the mysterious Andreas Wolf appears in her life with the project “Sunlight.” Wolf is a dissident from East Germany who created a project exposing social injustices. When Pip is offered an internship in this organization, she agrees for personal reasons. She hopes that the organization trading in secrets will help her find out her father’s identity. Pip is not naive enough to believe she was chosen only on the basis of personal qualities. Gradually, the true motives of Wolf are revealed to her. The story unfolds in a spiral, revealing more and more details of the characters’ pasts, and Pip’s very existence becomes the intersection of many fates she did not suspect.
