Shelf: On the Main Books of Russian Literature: [collection of articles]. — Moscow: Alpina Non-Fiction, 2024. ISBN 978-5-00139-076-3 Vol. 1 — 824 pages: ill. Vol. 2 — 680 pages: ill. This book contains articles written and compiled within the framework of the "Shelf" project. Created in 2017, the project aimed to identify the most important works of Russian literature. To do this, a large community of experts formed a list of 108 works that left a mark in history, expanded the possibilities of literature, influenced the development of language, thought, and society, conveyed something new about the world and humanity, and entered the Russian literary canon. These include novels, novellas, short stories, plays, poems, literary memoirs—from the "Tale of Igor's Campaign" to the novel "Chapayev and Void." The authors tried to write clearly and accessibly about each of these works, relying on extensive scholarly and critical literature, placing each in a large literary context, and discussing other texts that influenced it and were influenced by it. The first two volumes of this edition include 60 articles about Russian literature from Ancient Rus to 1917.
