- Reissue of the bestseller in the "New Russian Classics" series. - The novel by Yuri Arabov is based on the Orthodox legend of "Zoya's Stand." The events take place in Kuybyshev (now Samara) in 1956. A girl, Zoya Karnaukhova, unable to find a dance partner, invites an icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker to dance and, touching it, becomes petrified for 128 days. Doctors, priests, and even Nikita Khrushchev himself try to bring Zoya out of this "petrified" state, but without success. - Yuri Arabov is a talented screenwriter, known for his work on the film "The Monk and the Devil." He also wrote the screenplay for the adaptation of Yevgeny Vodolazkin's novel "Aviator" starring Konstantin Khabensky, set to be released this year. - Arabov's prose is distinguished by subtlety, kindness, and wonderful humor. In his books, he explores religious motifs, revealing them from an unexpected but always bright perspective. - The film adaptation of the book was directed by Alexander Proshkin in 2009.
